It Begins...

I hate debt.

I hate spending my waking hours going over the same math problems in my head, worrying about how the sums add up. I hate seeing the entire train of my life derail over what should be minor unexpected events. I hate the credit cards that hover at their limit, never going down. I hate that my credit score causes me to be escorted out of stores at gunpoint.

I've gotten serious about getting out of debt, and decided that there is no better way to motivate myself than the threat of failing in front of an audience (thanks, by the way!). Therefore, I am documenting my journey: all the highs and lows along the way. There are others who have walked this path before me, and I'm sure I will link to them frequently; however, I think as someone going through the process, I can offer a perspective the financial advisors can not.

Hopefully seeing another slacker go down the road to financial health might inspire you to do the same. As I've made clear, I am not a professional financial guru. If I have an idea that is slightly off the mark- or just plain stupid - I hope that you will (politely) call me on it.

See you on the other side!
